No appointment is necessary!

What's New at TPC

Wintertime!
Waking up in the dark; home from school in the dark...Isn't it exciting!

Just remember to stay warm and dry….and keep in mind that April is approaching!

NEW!!: IMPACT TESTING For Concussion Management

Many of our student athletes are at risk for concussions. In order to manage these athletes using best practices, we recommend they should all have baseline cognitive tests before play and then have repeat testing when they are recovering from a concussion. These are computerized tests. This enables us to make better and safer decisions regarding return to play advice. Testing is done by appointment in our office and takes 20-30 minutes to complete.

Office Update

  • Veda Tyson (our psychiatric nurse practitioner) has increased her hours at the office! She specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents and their families with behavioral issues. Speak to one of the practitioners if you think that you may need her help.
  • Adrienne Nash (our other psychiatric nurse practitioner) has decided to leave practice and take care of her growing family. We thank her for her expertise, common sense, and friendship.

Office Notes

  • Flu season is still ahead of us and we recommend vaccine for almost everyone! We have a limited supply of vaccine still available so make an appointment (or use our walk-in hours)
  • Hepatitis A vaccine is now required for kids entering KG in CT.
  • There are a number of new recommendations for adolescent vaccines: including Hepatitis A, Meningitis, Human Papilloma Virus for boys, and Adacell. Please speak to one of us or explore the vaccine links on this site for further information.

Remember

  • We have mentioned before about the new Tylenol doses. They are just being shipped to the stores now, so be very careful about giving the appropriate amount (see above link)
  • Check our “twitter” feed for last minute office closings due to inclement weather or other emergencies. It is located on the right side of our home page.
